Auditorium Setup - We will be setting up and
taking down the chairs and tables many times during the
Festival so we can hold the Davidic dance classes in the
main auditorium. This will usually be done in the
early afternoon, just after the last speaking session
and late in the evening on the nights we have dancing.
During the morning sessions, the chairs will have to be
straitened and someone needs to be available for
emergencies (spilled drinks, someone getting sick, etc.)
Anyone can help here. Contact Ron McKown (rdmckown@juno.com)
or phone (254) 666-3682) for more info.
Call the Assembly (Shofar Blowing) – If you
have a shofar, any size, and you would like to
participate in the blowing of the shofar at the Feast.
We blow the shofar to call the assembly first thing
every morning. We start every morning service with the
sounds of the shofar. Beginning Erev Shabbat , we blow
the sounds of the shofar. At the beginning of Shabbat
service we blow the sounds of the shofar. Of course,
there is the Water Pouring Rehearsal. Plus many more. If
you are interested contact Donna McKown (rdmckown@juno.com)
or call 1-254-666-3682
Child Bible Classes - We will be having
various classes for the children this year (see "Children's
Classes" for more info). If
you would be able to help in these classes, or if you
have an idea for a class yourself, contact Angie Kelley
or call 903-769-2750) (N55154@aol.com).
Decorations - We would like to fill the main hall
with banners and decorations. If you have
something we can use to decorate the hall and can bring
it to the festival, we could probably use it.
We'll really need a lot of help in the
area of decorations! Contact Ron
McKown (rdmckown@juno.com
or phone (254) 666-3682)
Duplicating - It's our desire to make tapes of
each general seminar (the morning seminars) available
each day for sale in the resource room. This is a
boring job, but someone has to do it. You will
need to be able to print the labels from a computer (we
will have all the equipment). Contact Angie
Kelley at 903-769-2750 (N55154@aol.com)
if you can help or if you have a tape duplicating
machine we can borrow.
Hamburger / Ice Cream Social - This event will
take place in the early afternoon. Help will be
needed to set up for this, cook the food, prepare the
home-made ice cream, serve the food, and to clean up
afterwards. We need a lot of help here - no
experience necessary! Please contact Ron &
Donna McKown (rdmckown@juno.com
or phone (254) 666-3682).
Lost and Found - We need someone to head up
the lost and found area. Responsibilities include
making a place where found items can be taken to and
writing an announcement when things are found. Contact Tim Kelley (N55154@aol.com).
Praise & Worship Services - Music is one
of the key ingredients for a successful feast.
For our Praise & Worship team, we are looking for those who would consider themselves better than average singers and players. In addition, you will need some available time as there are usually somewhere between 25 and 40 songs to learn, with up to 20 new for each year. As far as musicians, we are looking for those who play regularly. You will need to be able to read a chord chart and sometimes notes on a stave. You would also need to have your own instrument. Basically, we would be interested in keyboard players, guitar and bass players, and percussion. Also, brass and woodwinds but you will need to be able to play mostly by ear. If you think this is something that you would be interested in persusing futher, please contact Lee Miller (leemiller@madisongrp.com).
Photography - Someone needs to be responsible
for taking pictures of the various speakers and
activities. Some of these pictures could be shown
each morning between speaking sessions and could be used
in upcoming ads, newspaper articles, and on this
website. A digital camera would be a very useful
tool. If you have the desire, but don't have the
equipment, we maybe able to provide the equipment for
you. Contact Tim Kelley (N55154@aol.com)
if you can take on this responsibility.
Registration Table - We need someone to
organize and to help at the registration table on the
Wednesday before Sukkot and the following Friday morning.
These persons will need to be available from noon
until sundown on the Wednesday. It will
take at least two people at all times to man the table.
You will be checking people in, distributing name tags,
distributing schedules, distributing "Israeli Night
Dinner" tickets, and answering questions. Contact
Angie Kelley (N55154@aol.com).
Sukkot - We would like to have as many sukkot as
possible set up down by the water. If you can
bring willow or palm branches that we can use on the
various sukkot and during the water pouring ceremony, it
would be greatly appreciated. We also need a crew
to assemble and take down the "teen sukkah"
(it's already cut out - it just needs to be assembled).
Please contact Ron McKown (rdmckown@juno.com)
Talent Show - We will be having a Talent/Fun show
one evening. We need people who can sing, dance,
tell a joke, play an instrument, do a skit, etc..
We also need help in handling microphones, lights, etc. Ron
McKown (rdmckown@juno.com)
will coordinate this production, but he will need a lot
of help in order to make it a smooth running show!
Teens - At this time we do not have a teen
coordinator. If you would like to work with the teens
and come up with a program for them please contact us so
we can work with you to put a program together. Contact
Tim Kelley (N55154@aol.com).
Torah Study - On each Shabbat morning, we will
be holding an interactive Torah study. In addition
to the Shabbat studies, we would like to have an
interactive reading of the book of Deuteronomy each
morning. We need people to organize and lead these
studies. Contact Ron McKown (rdmckown@juno.com).
Water Pouring Rehearsal - On the afternoon of
this event, the "altar" has to be assembled,
the lights put up, and the sound equipment needs to be
moved from the main hall to the Pavilion area. It
takes two or three people to do this. A group of
people will also need to organize the snacks for the
evening and the clean up afterwards. Tim and Angie
Kelley (N55154@aol.com)
will coordinate this evening's activities. Please
help us out to insure that the evening is enjoyable for
all!
Willow Branches - We will be needing a lot of
willow branches throughout the festival. We will
use them 1) to decorate the various Sukkot, 2) for the
practice (homemade) lulavim that many will be using
throughout the festival, and 3) to wave during the Water
Pouring Rehearsal. Being that this year (2008) will
be our first year at Paris Landing, we don't know where
to find willows in the area. If you do know where
to find them, or if you can bring willows from home,
please let us know. We will need to collect willows on
two different days. If we can find them, it only takes a couple of
people about 1 1/2 hours each time to collect all the
willows we need.
