Feast of Tabernacles 2013 . . .
Wednesday Evening, September 18 - Thursday, September 26
The Windermere Camp, located in the center of Missouri on the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks,
is a
youth camp operated as an extension of the Missouri Baptist
Convention. During the summer, it hosts youth groups from all
over the country, and during the off season serves as a marriage
retreat for a variety of groups and as a beautiful facility to host
just about any type of group gathering, including family reunions.
Because of it's unique
design
and millennial setting, it is an ideal
location to hold the festival - it's off the beaten path yet only 9 miles from the town of Camdenton, MO. The lodges,
cabins, motel, dining hall, RV park, and camp ground are all within
walking distance of each other, and there is no traffic, no busy streets to cross in order to get from one facility to another,
no hustle and bustle. Just the serenity of being on a secluded
alcove of the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks. At Windermere, you
will feel a little more at ease letting your children walk or ride
their bikes from activity to activity, knowing that for these eight
days, we're pretty much secluded from the rest of the world.
Housing at Windermere consists of 5 individual lodges, a number of large cabins - each with two bedrooms, a motel, an RV park with a bathhouse, and an area for tent camping. Each lodge is set up to be very "family friendly". Most rooms have one double or queen bed and one or two sets of bunk beds. All the rooms are nice, clean, and modern. Read More >>>
As an added bonus, for every 8 - 10 rooms in the lodges, there
is a fully stocked (with dishes and cooking utensils)
kitchen and dining room available for your use. This year we plan to have
an evening fellowship meal where we will use all the kitchens in both the Koehler and Lake View Lodges.
We'll be providing more information concerning these meals as it
comes available.
The lodges also have large 'commons' areas and balconies overlooking the lake, perfect for relaxing with a book in your hand or simply falling asleep in a rocker.
Windermere does not have a family style restaurant, but they do
have a dining hall that will be serving buffet breakfasts, lunches, and
dinners (except on evenings when there are scheduled fellowship
meals). They also have a short-order diner that serves
terrific hamburgers and french-fries as well as other items.
When you reserve your housing, be sure to tell them if you intend to
eat meals at
the dining hall (Note: meals at the dining hall
must be pre-paid. Windermere will have more information about
coordinating and paying for meals when you call to make
reservations).
Though Windermere has a swimming pool, it will probably be closed
during our stay. The lake, though, is available and Windermere
has a nice beach. Close to the beach is a nice playground for
small children.
It's anywhere from a five to ten minute walk from the lodges and cabins to the Convention Center.
The dining hall is also about 5 minutes away, but in the opposite
direction. If you are camping, you will have about a 10 minute
walk each way. There is parking
at the convention center for those who would not be able to walk from the lodge each day.
We ask that all the able bodied people park in the lower parking lot
and reserve the upper parking for those who need closer access.
Be sure to take the distance between the various facilities into
account when choosing
your housing. Click on map at left for
details.
Windermere is located about 3 miles north of Roach, Missouri at the end of a long winding road. Click on the map at right for directions from Roach.
