        The Children's Program - 2007

Yeshuaic Halacha, The Way One Walks

This is a wonderful topic for children of all ages.  Children can learn so much and we want to provide a program that will instruct, challenge, and help them to grow in truth.  The children's program is a very important part of the feast and can help to set a course of success for a young person's life journey.

The children  will be separated into 2  groups, depending on age, to provide teaching and activities geared specifically for their interests and learning level. The younger group are those children who are under age 8.  The older group will be comprised of 8 to 12 year olds. There is some flexibility though as to a child moving to a different group not at their own age level. The 2 groups will be meeting in different rooms but at the same time.  The children will be meeting during the second scheduled speaker for the feast's morning session which will be from 11:30 to 12:45. The meeting rooms are located right next to the Main Hall.  There will be occasions that both classes of children may go outside for games or activities depending on the weather.

The children meeting dates are:
  •  Fri. Sept. 28
  • Sun. Sept. 30
  • Mon. Oct 1
  • Tues. Oct 2
  • Wed, Oct 3
There will not be children's meetings on the weekly Sabbath, Sept 29th, and will also not meet on the two High Sabbaths, Thurs. Sept 27, and Thurs. Oct 4.

The younger children will be involved in lots of wonderful lessons, projects, games, singing, crafts and everything will be great fun.  They

will learn about animals and how they walk and live; and what their halacha is.  Then they will learn about how children of the Most High walk and live; and what their halacha is.  A DVD will be shown about dinosaurs and how they were such amazing animals that our Heavenly Father created on the sixth day.

The older children will be challenged and inspired with a program designed to provide an overview of halacha.   They will learn about crossing over, equiping themselves to walk in righteousness, defending the truth, and hearing their Heavenly Father's voice.  It's going to be great with an excellent DVD being shown, games, interesting discussion, a Talent night presentation, Scripture memorization challenges, a dance or two, and a waterskiing opportunity.  Bring your Bibles everyday.

Parents, if your child will be participating in the children's program, we'll need to know that you're registered with Season of Our Joy and will be attending the second teaching in the morning session or in the children's class helping.  Also, children will need to wear their names on their lanyard everyday.

Volunteers Needed!
Volunteers are needed, especially for the younger children.  The itinerary of activities for each meeting will be planned out.  Volunteers would select a day or two to oversee the events of the meeting; greet the children, teach the lesson, lead the discussion, assist with crafts or games, etc.  If someone could take 2 or more meetings, that is fine and then the children would be seeing some familiar faces.  Our desire is to see people, especially parents, co-op together and get their name on the schedule two times so that no one or two persons are overwhelmed with bearing the responsibility for the children's program.

When you volunteer, please indicate if you would like to lead the meeting or just be there for support.  Most opt for support but we will need at least one person for each meeting who feels comfortable leading in order to have a class arranged for that day.  If you have already registered for the feast and would like to be involved with the children's meetings you can e-mail Ellie at ellie@praiseyah.com.  I will assist you with the schedule and help get you signed up for your day.  It will be very important for the volunteers who will be leading the class to know what the plan is for that day in order to prepare. At the feast registration table there will be a sign up sheet where at least one parent from each family can choose which day(s) he or she wants to serve.  We expect many children to be at this year's festival, therefore the parents of the children will be required to help with the children during one or more classes

For more information or to choose your time of service in advance, (especially for those who will lead the class) contact Mark and Linda Roth. Their home phone number is (907) 235 - 2412 or you can e-mail them at alaskasgirl57@yahoo.com or akfish@oem-surplus.com. You can also contact me, Ellie Greek at ellie@praiseyah.com.  Be sure to share with us a little about yourself, what your interests and gifts are, and if there is something you would especially like to bless the children with. We would also like to have someone who knows how to play the guitar who can lead the younger children in some children's songs.  We would prefer that volunteers, especially those who will lead the activity for the children, contact us before registration day.

Areas that our wonderful volunteers will be assisting in are:
  •  Preparing and arranging the room and also clean up afterwards.
  • Joyfully welcoming the children  and dismissing them safely and efficiently
  • Assisting with crafts by passing out supplies, one-on-one help with projects, and making sure the children are doing their best.
  • Escorting children between indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Overseeing outdoor games.

'Looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new friends,

Ellie Greek
